Kay, here’s the deal. For many years now I’ve struggled with a self-imposed feeling of worthlessness, many dealing with my art. ‘I only work with fan art, therefore I can’t be a real artist’, ‘Even when I do original work, it isn’t good enough’, ‘I’m not as creative as I should be/other people are, therefore, why bother?’.

This is just one aspect I’ve fought with myself over, other aspects include my writing, my way of living, my lack of any kind of social life, or indeed friends.

I have been desperately trying to rid myself of this self inflicted burden, and struggling to mount up and away from the circular trench I have dug myself, only to put myself back in when I bring up my most persistent (and worst) bad habit, comparing.

I compare everything I do to others, and always find myself falling short of where I wish to be, (yes I know the golden rule, everybody’s better than somebody, and worse than somebody else, blah blah) and despite my greatest efforts have been unable to see other works as inspiration for my own, rather than me merely taking someone else’s idea.

In light of a new personal struggle that has only come up in the last year or so, and thanks to a rather spiritual endeavor I had in early July, I’ve been able to (somewhat) alleviate some of those feelings.

At any rate, all I mean is that I am making some headway, and will be trying to keep up the current rate of production I have going, perhaps even to start posting my works closer between.
